Welcome back!
After a brilliant start to the year, we are now entering our second half term. I’d like to thank all the children and their families and I look forward to the rest of the year. Maths
In maths this half term the children will be continuing to work on number and place value. They will also begin geometry and money, where we will open a role play shop.
English
In English Cherry Class will begin to look at different aspects of grammar through different text types, including books linked to Superheroes.
EYFS will begin to write words and captions using their phonics knowledge.
Topic and Science
This half term's topic is Superheroes! The children will be looking at the human body and what makes it super, as well as designing their own superhero outfits. On the 23rd November we will be having a Superhero dress up day! In RE we will be continuing to learn about Special Stories, and will learn the story of the nativity ready for December!
Homework
Each child will continue to have 3 reading books per week. EYFS will have their new phonics sound in their book as well as new friends best friends. Please continue to revisit these sounds frequently to support learning. Year 1 and Year 2 will continue to have weekly spellings.
Phonics and Spelling
EYFS will be revisiting phase 2 and beginning phase 3!
Year 1 will recap the phonemes they have already learnt as well as being introduced to new sounds and words.
Year 2 will revise their phase 1-5 knowledge and look at spelling patterns as well as common exception words..
