In Maths this half term the children will continue to work on place value and begin to work on multiplication and division, fractions and time.

Topic and Science
This half terms topic is Freezing Explorers! We will be looking into the lives of explorers of the past who took the dangerous journey to the south pole. We will be working to find the best material to protect freezing explorers and will create some polar animal artwork. In RE we will be learning about Special Stories in Islam.
Homework
Each child will continue to have 3 reading books per week. EYFS will now have their individual reading book. Please support your child to read their individual reading book independently.
Don’t forget to note down any books you’ve read at home in their reading record too! We love to hear about all books!
Year 1 and Year 2 will continue to have weekly spellings.
Phonics and Spellings
EYFS will be continuing to learn their phase 3 sounds.
Year 1 will recap the phonemes they have already learned as well as being introduced to new sounds and words.
Year 2 will revise their phase 1-5 knowledge and look at spelling patterns, especially with suffixes as well as common exception words.
